As part of the course, students will be introduced to the issues of general gnathology, gnathological examinations, chewing forces and their transmission, jaw movements, and the diagnosis and treatment of basic disorders.

After finishing of this subject, students are able to:
Consider static and dynamic occlusion state.
Examinate temporomandibular joint.
Work with facebow.
Choose correct type of articulator.
Indicate correct type of occlusal splint.
State basic treatment protocol for patient with compromised occlusion.

Requirements to the exam
Credit
At least 80 % of all points from credit test (max. 2 re-take credit tests).
Student must be present at all practical classes.
Examination
The student, who obtained the credit, can register to the examination.
In the case of repeating a study obligation, the student is required to complete the study obligation in its entirety.

Chewing cycle. Occlusal forces applied on a tooth. Principles of the mutually protected occlusion, unilaterally balanced occlusion, bilaterally balanced occlusion. (Vavrickova 4)
Basic criteria of the optimally functional occlusion. Determinants of the occlusal morphology. (Vavrickova 4)
Articulators. Face-bow. Functional analysis of TMJ. (Vavrickova 4)
