Anotace - angličtina
The course is accredited by University Pompeu Fabra Barcelona. Course leaders: Prof. José Luis Pérez Triviño (University Pompeu Fabra Barcelona), Prof Alberto Carrio Sampedro (University Pompeu Fabra Barcelona). This module provides a comprehensive view of the main current topics on law, ethics and integrity of sport Governance. The good governance of sports has become one of the most important topics in sports after several scandals relating to corruption, match-fixing, doping and lack of democratization of Sport Governance Bodies. The module is structured in two complementary parts consisting of seven different units in each part. The first part of the module is focused on the requirements of the legitimacy of SGBs to rule and ask for compliance, providing a complex standard for sport good governance. This part of the module provides: i) a historical overview of sports governance; ii) an introduction to the legitimacy of sports global governance; iii) the substantive and epistemic criteria to assess good governance in sports iv) a systematic approach to the Olympic Movement and its normative scope; v) an analysis of the normative scope of the Olympic Charter vi) an introduction to the law of sports vii) an introduction to the ethics of Artificial Intelligence and High tech in sports. The second part of the module goes deeper into good governance principles and current conflict resolution mechanisms. Finally, the second part analyzes the athletes’ basic rights and provides a legal and ethical approach to some relevant topics such as sports violence and sports competition spoiling. This module helps students to develop analytical competencies related to ethics, laws and integrity in sport as well as to apply these competencies to practical matters in Sport. 1 At the end of this module students, students should have acquired the ability to understand and discuss in a complex conceptual background as well as have developed the necessary skills to face current problems and challenges of Sports Governance. Course Aims 1. To introduce students to a) The concept of Sport Governance. b) The legitimacy of SGBs c) The systematic approach to the legal and ethical structures of sport Governance. d) The more controversial issues that threat sport nowadays. e) The specificity of Sport conflicts and its resolution f) The integrity of Sport competition 2. To link these legal understandings to ethical issues in sport 3. To introduce students in the techniques of legal argumentation 4. To improve the development and coherent presentation of ideas and arguments

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

1. Identify, discuss and giving an adequate answer to legal and ethical issues in Sport Governance

2. Understand the main arguments supporting controversial legal and ethical issues in sport and be able to give opposing arguments

3. Clearly distinguish between ethical and legal arguments in Sport Governance

4. Understand the nature and significance of different accounts of ‘human being’ for contemporary problems in sport

5. Understand how to develop reasoned approaches to the resolution of problems in sport
