Anotace

The subject will show several examples of environmental issues important in central European areas such as land restoration after mining, agriculture and its environmental impact, protection of biodiversity, eutrophication of waters, emerging pollutants, and air pollution. Each block will include an introduction to some basic subject necessary for understanding the problem, then an overview of a particular problem and its origin, and possible solution. The subject is suitable for students who have at least a basic knowledge of biology and ecology.

Výsledky učení

The educational objectives of the atmospheric aerosol course are:

1. Remember and understand what an atmospheric aerosol is, what its properties are, and its sources and sinks

2. Describe the basic properties of the aerosol size distribution, use them to estimate the behavior of aerosols in the atmosphere

3. Identify the physical properties of aerosols during their movement in the atmosphere and deduce their influence on the water cycle

4. Ability to outline and calculate the influence of key forces, gravity, inertia, diffusion and phoresis on the properties and residence times of aerosol particles in the atmosphere

5. Be able to distinguish differences and analyze key steps in aerosol formation in the free atmosphere

6. Be able to evaluate the processes of aerosol influence on the global greenhouse effect also in connection with cloudiness
