Kurz se zabývá analýzou politické geografie a geoopolitiky jednotlivých regionů s důrazem na roli regionalismu ve světové geopoltice. Kurz je rozdělen do dvou bloků. Prvním blok se zabývá konceptualizací klíčových termínů a definicemi (vntirostátní, inte-státní, či nadnárodní regiony), geopolitickou strukturou světové mapy dle S. Cohena politicko-geogragickou nástroji světových regionů, historickými obdobími (vlnami bezpečnostní, politické či ekonomické integrace), teoriemi regionalismu či geografickými a funkcionalními aspekty regionální spolupráce. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována specifickým aspektů vnitrostátní, inter-státní, and transnacionální obdobě region. Druhá – empirický – blok kurzu se geopolitice jednotlivých kontinentů a regionů, včetně dynamiky regionálního a globálního equilibria se zaměřením na probíhající regionální spolupráci a tenze.

This course analyzes the political geography and geopolitics of individual regions with an emphasis on the role of regionalism in geopolitics. The course is divided into two blocks. The first block deals with the conceptualization of key terms and definitions (intra-national, inter-state, or transnational regions), the geopolitical structure of the world map (S. Cohen), tools of political geography to analyze world regions, historical periods (waves of security, political, or economic integration), different clusters of theories of regionalism, or geographical and functional aspects of regional cooperation. Particular attention is paid to specific features of the national, inter-state, and transnational regions. The second - empirical - block of the course examines the geopolitical dynamics of continents (Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Americas) and regions, including the dynamics of regional and global equilibria, with a focus on ongoing regional cooperation and tensions.

Kurz má formu prezenčních přednášek. Přednášky jsou založeny na powerpointových přednáškách a diskusi k jednotlivým tématům. Účast na přednáškách není povinná, ale studentům se doporučuje účast i vzhledem k tomu, že přednášky nejsou nahrávány a prezentace sdíleny kvůli ochraně copy rights.

The course takes the form of full-time lectures. The lectures are based on powerpoint lectures and discussion on individual topics. Attendance at the lectures is not compulsory, but students are encouraged to attend as the lectures are not recorded and the presentations are not shared due to copy rights protection.

Požadavky ke zkoušce -
Hodnocení kurzu je založeno na dvou písemných prezenčních testech. Mid-term test má váhu 20% (přibližně 20 otázek) a závěrečný test má váhu 80% celkové známky (přibližně 40 otázek). Oba testy mají formu multiple-choice s jednou správnou odpovědí. Midterm test proběhne v 7.týdnu výuky (v průběhu přednášky) a účast na něm je povinná (není náhradní termín). Závěrečný test proběhne v průběhu zkouškového období a budou vypsány min. 3 termíny a jeden termín náhradní (v případě potřeby).

Course evaluation is based on two written tests. The mid-term test accounts for 20% of the overall grade (approximately 20 questions) and the final test accounts for the 80% of the total grade (approximately 40 questions). Both tests are multiple-choice with one correct answer. The midterm test will take place in the 7th week of class (during lecture) and attendance is mandatory (there is no make-up date). The final test will take place during the exam period and there will be a minimum of 3 dates and one make-up date (if necessary).
