The aim of the course is to (i) provide students guidance with writing the bachelor thesis, (ii) provide information about the state final exam, and (iii) help students to prepare for the defence of their bachelor thesis and for the state final exam.
YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE COURSE IN THE SEMESTER WHEN YOU PLAN TO HAVE YOUR DEFENCE. IF YOU PLAN TO DEFEND IN JUNE OR SEPTEMBER, REGISTER IN THE SUMMER SEMESTER. IF YOU PLAN TO DEFEND IN JANUARY, REGISTER IN THE WINTER SEMESTER.

SIS
It is important to register for the course in SIS where you can download the slides from the seminars, upload the draft of your thesis and receive feedback on it. You need to register for the course in the semester when you plan to have your defence.
Requirements (each of the points below has to be fulfilled in order to get a pass from the course)
March 16: Draft of the thesis. Upload the draft of your bachelor thesis on the course website in SIS – under the tab “Study group roaster / Studijni mezivysledky”, an icon with four blue figures. Get feedback from the course supervisors. On the first page, include a short progress report. Explain what you managed to do, which sections are in final stages, what is work in progress and what remains to be done. The progress report should be approximately half page long. The text needs to include at least 5 pages of the text (excluding any figures, tables or empty pages) which is very close to the final version. Include only the parts with the text you wrote, exclude empty pages from the template for the thesis.
April 29: Upload the final bachelor thesis in SIS (for defense in June - recommended).
July 29: Upload the final bachelor thesis in SIS (for defense in September, in case you do not manage to submit the thesis in June).
If you want to participate at the mock defense presentation, you need to indicate so on the course website in SIS – under the tab “Study group roaster / Studijni mezivysledky” (by March 2). By doing so, you also commit to attend attend Seminars 6 and 7 and to submit your Home assignment (attendance and HA is compulsory if you want to take part in the mock defense presentation, otherwise voluntary).

Home assignment (instructions will be sent out on May 12 – deadline on May 25). Students will work in teams and provide (i) recorded thesis presentation, (ii) recorded Q&A session during which students will demonstrate their ability to defend their thesis, and (iii) written feedback evaluating a colleague´s performance. Mock defense presentations (June 2 – June 5). Students can use the opportunity to rehearse their defense presentation and get feedback on it from the teachers of the course and from the Department of Foreign Languages. The thesis supervisor and anyone else can be also invited for the presentation. Each student has a 30 minute slot. The mock is available to students who commit to attend Seminars 6 and 7 and submit their Home assignment.
