As part of the course, students will be introduced to the basics of orthodontics (classification of orthodontic defects, etiology and prophylaxis of orthodontic anomalies, treatment limitations) and the possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration between a general dentist and an orthodontist.

Results:
Student will gain an overview of orthodontic anomalies, be able to distinguish between functional anomalies and simple aesthetic issues, differentiate developmental defects from other anomalies.
Student will be able to correctly diagnose an anomaly and refer the patient to an orthodontic specialist at the optimal time.
Student will also gain a deeper understanding of the development of the mixed dentition, tooth eruption sequences, dental age issues, and recognize defects and anomalies in tooth eruption.
Student will be able to monitor treatment outcomes and repair fixed retention appliances.
Student will understand the possibilities and limitations of orthodontic treatment and recognize when to actively seek the collaboration of an orthodontist in treating certain conditions.
Student will be able to respond appropriately to the orthodontist's requirements in addressing a condition within interdisciplinary collaboration.
Student will learn to assess the dentition as a whole, using OPG, dental models, and direct oral examination.

Student must be present at all practical courses (each absence must be fully compensated).
Student has to master the topics related to the work during the practicals.
The credit written test have to be done at least with 75 %.
In the case of repeating a study obligation, the student is required to complete the study obligation in its entirety.
