The subject Preclinical Dentistry II provides basic information about ergonomics in dentistry; ethipatogenesis, diagnostics and treatment of the dental caries; procedure of the cavity preparation and fillings of different classes; and filling materials.

After finishing of this subject, students are able to:

  • Discuss the individual aspects of ergonomics of the dentist's work. Apply the ergonomic meassures to own work.
  • Explain the factors and processes contributing to the origin and development of the dental caries.
  • Describe the methods of dental caries diagnostics and compare their effectivity.
  • Describe the procedure of the cavity preparation including the specifics of different materials, explain the purpose, process and order of the individual steps.
  • Characterize different filling materials - composition, clinically important properties, advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications, material preparation, and filling procedure.
  • Prepare class I., II., and V. cavities in artificial teeth.
  • Make class I., II., and V. fillings in artificial teeth.

Credit

  1. 6 running tests, each with maximum 10 points, 5 best of them will be involved in evaluation. Maximal possible points gain is 50 points, succes threshold is 40 points (80%). In case of fail, possibility of two retake tests with the success threshold 80%.
  2. Gaining of 80% of maximal points count from evaluated preparations (87 of 108). In case of fail, possibility of two retake preparations with the success threshold 80%.

Assisting at the clinical practicals can be accepted as a compensation for a missed practical lesson in case of the teachers approval.
