The course covers a basic theory and practice of outdoor pursuits (cycling, cycle-touring, orienteering, climbing, and mountaineering), co-operative games, ropes courses, environmental and Czech conception of outdoor education and introduce Czech culture. The subject consists of 3-day outdoor residential course (27th – 29th September) in the university outdoor centre and 2 days of outdoor activities in Prague during the winter semester. Dates od these days will be set later.

The subject consists of 3-day outdoor residential course (27th – 29th September) in the university outdoor centre and 2 days of outdoor activities in Prague during the winter semester. Dates od these days will be set later.

1. Introduction - safety principles, organisation and didactic approaches, function of experience.
2. Czech culture.
3. Cycling and cyclo-touring.
4. Orientation and orienteering race.
5. Outdoor games.
6. Outdoor exercises and ropes courses.
7. Environmental education and games for nature perception and learning about nature.
Seminars:
l. Leading a group - division of roles, common tasks, reflection of an everyday programme.
2. Morning meetings - exercises.
3. Basic knots, rope work and information about belaying and abseiling.
4. Cyclo-touring trip, safety and turistika activities.
5. Games, cultural and creative activities. Campfire.
6. Evaluation of a course programme - other forms of reviewing.
Exercises:
l. Cyclo-touring - obstacle course, cycling in a group, cycling trip, leading a group.
2. Orientation, map, compass, orientation games and exercises, orientation race.
3. Outdoor games - examples of small and big games.
4. Icebreakers, trust activities, initiative games, reviewing.
5. Outdoor exercises - a terrain run, obstacle courses.
6. Low and high ropes courses.
7. Basics of climbing, bouldering, via ferrata, top rope climbing, abseiling.
8. Eco-games - preparation and realization of simple games.
