● The main goal of this subject is to teach students new skills which will help them successfully finish their PhD. study, and prepare them for academic and research activities as well as pedagogical work and practice. With regard to the type and aim of their study program, students will gain popularization skills connected to publishing activities for the wider public, and will also develop the ability to perform and act in public. The subject is co-organized with the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences based on the agreement between this institution and the Pedagogical faculty of Charles University.

●      The content of this subject is separated into two parts. The first part is dedicated to scientific and research skills, and the second is dedicated to popularization skills. In the first part of the course, students will be introduced to the requirements of Phd. study. They will attend lectures on how to write academic texts in Czech, English or another language. Students will also get acquainted with the process of publishing texts in Czech and foreign scientific journals, and with the procedure of publishing academic monographies. In cooperation with the Pedagogical faculty and the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences, students will be introduced to the topic of applications for grants and foreign scholarships. In the second part of the course, students will gain popularization skills. They will be introduced to the basic principles of rhetoric on both theoretical and practical levels, and will also learn how to express academic themes in an understandable way for the wider public. Another part of the course is a practical exercise in which students will learn how to present the results of their research in public. Popularization training will be organized in cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy AS CR.
