The course deals with the following topics: - grammatical structure of a Czech sentence, variations of its analysis and description - valency vs. dependenc approach towards sentence structure - predication; sentence vs. utterance, modal modification od syntactic structures, functional sentence perspective - complex and compound sentence, their relations to text/discourse - text as a message (communication) - text coherence and text cohesion

The course aims at the analysis of the grammar of Czech sentence as well as at its modal and functional modifications. What is essential is students´ ability to deal with comprehensive analysis of real texts.

The course is completed with an examination test (3 attempts, 7 assignments, 7 points); the necessary minimum is 4,5 points. The test deals with the grammatical analysis of Czec hsentence as well as with the other topics presented during the semester.

In order to complete the course, students are required to take an active part in the classes (with the knowledge of the assigned scholarly literature items) as well as to pass  a written examination test (7 assignments, 7 points; in order to pass, a student needs to obtain 4.5 points minimum).
