The state doctoral examination is a public oral examination in front of a commission. During the exam, a PhD student must demonstrate sufficient theoretical knowledge of the field and an orientation of domestic and foreign professional literature, on the basis of a list of compulsory titles and documents compiled by a doctoral student, taking into account the topic of her/his dissertation. The state doctoral examination always precedes the defense of a dissertation. A PhD student must submit at least one chapter of his/her dissertation to the state doctoral commission during the final exam.
