Cílem tohoto předmětu je základní seznámení s gregoriánským chorálem jakožto specifickým zpěvem katolické církve po stránce teoretické i praktické. Důraz je kladen na praktické seznámení se s repertoárem a získání interpretačních návyků a znalostí při jeho provozování. Repertoár bude sledovat liturgický rok. Součástí studia je praktické provedení chorálního zpěvu při liturgii a dirigování části propria.
