The course introduces the basic theoretical concepts and approaches to the construction of gender identity and difference, the conceptual curriculum of contemporary feminism (humanistic, differential and poststructuralist approach). It examines the origin and development of the gender order in certain cultures and communities, ways of its naturalization, its internalization through socialization and social control, including its somatization, symbolic violence, etc. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic theoretical concepts and approaches to constructing gender identity and difference, the conceptual curriculum of contemporary feminism, with the practical application of gender approach in the interpretation of relationship and communication issues in families. Content definition: 1. Social construction of gender, origin and development of gender order in culture and communities, forms of internalization of these value orientations by the process of socialization and personalization. 2. Discourse on the difference between men and women (developmental point of view), psychological development of women and new theories of male development in an evolutionary psychological approach, the issue of transgression and subversion. 3. Physicality and sexuality, self-experience of constructing femininity and masculinity, ideas about the body, experiencing the body, body image issues. 4. Changes in social-partner behavior in connection with the change of socio-cultural climate, globalization, in terms of gender. 5. Feminist theories and their incorporation into contemporary theoretical thinking (humanistic, differential and poststructuralist feminism).
