This course focuses on the noble families of the lands of the Bohemian Crown between the 1500 and 1700. We will deal not only with the political history but also with confessional, social and cultural history. The principal objective of this course is to present comprehensively the influence of the Czech noble families on the development of Czech society and the Czech state in the 16th and 17th centuries in the context of Central European history. The main ineterest of the course is the family of Rosenbergs, Kolowrats, Czerníns, Schwarzenbergs, Schwambergs, Sternbergs, Lobkowicz’s, Nostitz family, Colleredo-Mannsfelds, Kinský’s etc.

The students develop their own study plan according to their individual academic specialization and are expected to produce papers under the tutoring of the relevant specialists on the topic they have chosen together with their tutors.
