Each student will be required to: give two presentations for two different countries,

and each will be about a different aspect of the chosen country. This will be marked according to

the following criteria:

(a)   the organisation and use of appropriate language for addressing the audience and its accuracy,

(b)   how well the chosen subject has been covered,

(c)   the communicative use of spoken language and engagement with the audience.

 

Each presentation will carry a total mark of up to 30%, bringing the total to 60% of the final mark.

 

There will be a final 'General Knowledge' test, which will cover some essentials of the 3 countries,

with a mark of up to 30%. It is very important to understand that students will be asked to take

notes about other students' presentations, and these will be handed in as the course progresses

to ensure that a thorough understanding of the subjects has been absorbed.

 

There will also be an essay of 200-250 words, which carries 10% of the final mark.

 

A C grade PASS will require a total of at least 70%, while 80% total will be awarded a grade B,

And a 90% total will be given a grade A.

 

Students must attend the whole course, and absence from more than 2 classes will

be considered as a Fail. Attendance is particularly important for this course, so that all the

required notes are taken that will be needed in the final exam.
