Výuka předmětu Histologie a embryologie I zahrnuje cytologii a základy stavby normálních tkání a orgánů lidského těla (na úrovni světelné a elektronové mikroskopie). Důraz je kladen na morfologii buněčných elementů i charakteristických složek extracelulární matrix. V praktických cvičeních se studenti obeznámí se základy diferenciální diagnostiky pro identifikaci lidských tkání na úrovni světelného mikroskopu a se základy histologických technik. V rámci výuky Embryologie I jsou posluchači seznámeni s procesy v časné embryogenezi (1.-3. týden prenatálního vývoje).

Výstupy (předmět Histologie a embryologie I):
1. student získá teoretické znalosti o stavbě buňky, normálních tkání (epitelové, pojivové a podpůrné, svalové a nervové) a orgánů (kardiovaskulárního, imunitního a dýchacího systému) lidského těla na úrovni světelné a elektronové mikroskopie
2. student získá praktické znalosti nezbytné k diferenciální diagnostice pro identifikaci lidských tkání na úrovni světelného mikroskopu
3. student získá přehled o histologických technikách
4. student získá teoretické znalosti o procesech časné embryogeneze (1.-3. týden prenatálního vývoje)

Tuition in Histology and Embryology I includes cytology, general structure of normal human tissues and organs at the light and electron microscopic levels. Morphology of cellular elements and characteristic components of extracellular matrix are emphasized. In the course of practical classes, students become familiar with basic differential diagnostics in identification of human tissues at light microscopic level and with basic histological techniques. In embryology, students acquire knowledge of prenatal development of the human beings in the early phases of embryogenesis (1st - 3rd prenatal week).
Entry requirements: pre-requisites not given
Outcomes (subject Histology and Embryology I):
1. the student acquires theoretical knowledge of the structure of the cells, of the normal tissues (epithelial, connective, muscle and nerve tissues) and of the organs (of the cardiovascular, immune and respiratory systems) at the level of light and electron microscopy
2. the student acquires the practical knowledge necessary for differential diagnosis for the identification of the human tissues at the level of light microscopy
4. the student acquires basic knowledge of the histological techniques
3. the student acquires theoretical knowledge of prenatal development of the human beings in the early phases of embryogenesis (1st - 3rd prenatal week)

COURSE CREDIT
The basic condition is to participate in all practical classes and pass all the ongoing and slide (seminary) tests, additional test in Histological techniques and e-learning courses.
Attendance at practical classes:
· A maximum of 1 absence from practical classes is accepted. Each absence from practical classes must be apologized in advance (before the class starts) via the e-mail sent to Assoc. Prof. Cizkova cizkovad@lfhk.cuni.cz with an enclosed written document (appointment at the doctor’s, various official meetings etc.)
Knowledge:
· The arithmetic mean of all grades received from the e-tests must not be worse than 3.0. The grades received from the slide seminary tests must not be worse than 3.0. If the student´s grades do not meet these criteria, he/she will be examined for the course credit (all slides studied throughout the semester + theory) during the exam period.
· In case, the student fails in additional test in Histological techniques (classified “passed” or “failed”), the 1st retake is also in a form of e-test (a week later), but the 2nd retake is tested orally during credit testing for winter semester (independently to the examination of the slide and theory, if required).
· In case the student skips some of the E-learning courses of lectures, he/she has to write an “essay” related to that topic, moreover, the student will be specifically questioned on particular topic during the final exam (note in the personal card).

No. 5 Muscle tissue (smooth, skeletal, cardiac).
No. 6 Nervous tissue - general description of the structure of neuron, types of neurons, nerve fibres (PNS). Glial cells in the CNS and PNS. ELC
No. 8 Basic histological techniques (see the Manual). Excursion to histological laboratories. E-test in HT. ELC
No. 9 Blood - human blood smear. Circulatory system.
No. 10 Lymphatic system. ELC
No. 11 Respiratory system.
