Students learn how to better cope with the stress. They explore various techniques for that and discuss interesting themes such as mindfulness/meditation, yoga, self-compassion, stress mindset, resilience, positive psychology, etc. and neurobiological background of that process and techniques The anticipated outcome: • Learn how to deal with stress in studying process and personal life • Understanding of biological and psychological background of stress reaction • Experience of various psychological and mindfulness technique that allows the student to create a personalize plan of self-care • Create a safe and supporting student community that would help student to feel secure and study better. The course will take place once every week. Every class composed of theoretical part, practical part and disuccion. The course is tailored to be interactive and flexible to adapt to needs of the particular group of students, so the order of the topic could be variable.

1) Mindful self-compassion

Introducing the concept of self-compassion - what is it and how it could be beneficial to us. Exploring methods how to develop more self-compassion. Practical exercises and loving kindness / self-compassion meditation.

2) Altered traits - science and mindfulness / meditation

Overview of the contemplative research. Meditation included.

3) The upside of stress

The new science of stress. Our attitude toward stress matters. Concept of stress mindset. Three main ways how to be better at stress. Practical exercises.

4) Resilience

Resilience research is recently very popular. What makes people resilient in the face of adversity, stress or trauma? The genes play the role, but our experiences throughout the life matter too. Resilience can be also trained. We will discuss and explore this interesting topic more.

5) Positive psychology

Positive psychology offers many strategies to help us flourish. Discussion about the special relationship of mindfulness and positive psychology. Practical exercises.
