The Course is organised in cooperation with the programme Erasmus+ Youth. It will be led by trainers from The Centre for International Cooperation in Education (DZS). Seminar will be delivered in English and therefore certain ability to speak, interact and understand in English
is required. We welcome both local and international mobility students, we hope to create intercultural group which will bring the dynamic to our work together. Seminar is aiming to reach those, who are choosing the path of educators, working with groups and will have a
motivation and chance to apply outcomes from this seminar in their current or future practices. Basic orientation in working with competencies and basic understanding of non-formal education methodologies, experiential education and interculturality is the goal. Part of the
activities will be based on self-exploration, self-reflection of each individual, working in small groups and group sharing.

Course contents
1. Introduction to subject of intercultural competence and nonformal learning principles
2. Intercultural competence: theoretical framework, basic terminology and key approaches
3. Reflection of one’s own identity
4. Fostering empathy and critical thinking
5. Stereotyping, conflicts and power mechanisms in interpersonal and intercultural context
6. Case studies, further steps and actions in one’s own reality

Course requirements, final examination
1. Essay – the student will write an essay/reflection of min. 2 A4 pages based on the topic given, until January 30.

Note on the capacity of the course
The number of enrolled students is limited to 20. In case there is higher demands, students of the masters programme of the Department of Adult Education and Personnel Management, Department of Pedagogy and the ERASMUS+ students will be prefered. This regulation is
based on a study plan structured according the years/grades of study (see the website of the Department).
