This seminar introduces the work of a modern systematic theologian. Students should learn to master a critical reading of a mid-difficult modern theological text. They are required to search in theological handbooks and dictionaries for unfamiliar terms, statements, theories, doctrines, schools, books, authors. Students are also encouraged to ask critical questions. The aim of the seminar is to learn to interpret a theological text, to formulate the line of thought with their own words and lead a critical discussion with the particular author. The course requires active participation and a final paper. The final paper should focus on one of the topics that emerged while reading the book. The topic does not have to be directly related to the question of God's action in the world. Here are some possible topics. After consultation, you may also propose your own. God’s Providence in the Old Testament, God’s Providence in Ancient Philosophy, The Idea of Creation in the Platonic Tradition, Miracles and Their Possible Interpretations, Predestination in Contemporary Discussion, Creation According to Martin Luther, Creation in dialogue with the natural sciences, Human as the image of God, The role of Jesus Christ in creation. The purpose of the paper is to provide a brief summary of the given topic, demonstrating that the student understands the subject and its various contexts. The length is 4,000 to 5,000 characters.
