The Rehabilitation – Education – Active Lifestyle – Elite Sports continuum is introduced as a framework of the course. First part covers topic of rehabilitation (including visit to Paraple Centre in Prague) with a look at history of para sport as a part of rehabilitation, biomedical introduction of eligible impairment types with special focus on Spinal Cord Injury, and importance of adapted physical activities in the rehabilitation process. Second part is dedicated to the topic of education. It starts with biomedical introduction of cerebral palsy as one of the most common inborn disability leading to physical impairment and affecting educational process. The Paralympic Educational Program including practical Paralympic School Day experience is also included in the section. This part is accompanied with the visit to the Jedlička Institute in Prague which is a special school and institution for children with physical impairments. The third part presents the topic of active lifestyle and especially elite para sport with all necessary information about its organizational structure, classification, technology and arising ethical issues. To introduce theories of impairment/disability and importance of rehabilitation, education, active lifestyle and sport. To provide students with the biomedical background of selected health disorders leading to eligible impairments. To train students to think inclusively about athletes with disability when devising policies. To introduce students to various ethical issues in para sport.
