A New Teacher’s Survival Guide. The special seminar is aimed at didactic assessment of the pros and cons of teaching history (with special focus on contemporary history). The relationship will be scrutinized that exists between historiography, history as a school subject and culture in its general historical sense, with the help of experience from the teaching practice. Novice school teachers or heritage educators are liable to disillusionment as a result of palpable divergence of didactic theory and the actual practice. They ask for advice about how to inspire school children, how to reduce the amount of schoolwork, how to plead for public appreciation of history before other school subjects, etc.

80% attendance, presentation; seminar work.
Active participation in the seminars requires students to take a time-consuming but continuous work (choosing a family photo, reading a short article, bringing a favorite comic book). If the group composition of the students allows, we will focus on reflecting on the training and experience of those students who have already started teaching. Students will complete the course by preparing their own model lesson with regard to the theoretical and methodological impulses of the course.
