The theory of education is one of the basic educational disciplines, which deals with the systematization and organization of the sciences of education, their goals, methods, forms, means and conditions. All this through analysis and comparison of different theories, directions and educational ideologies, which provide a number of theoretical models and ways of thinking about the educational process. The aim of the course is to open up to pluralism in the field of education. It should serve as a map for the student of pedagogy, which can show him the way in the complexity of pedagogical theories, directions and ideologies. Content definition: 1. Definition of the subject of the theory of education. 2. Three basic theoretical pillars on which pedagogy is based: philosophy, ideology and theory. 3. Philosophy and pedagogy (idealism, existentialism, etc.) 4. Ideology and pedagogy (conservatism, liberalism, etc.) 5. Theory and pedagogy (essentialism, progressivism, etc.) 6. Critical theories in education.
