The goal of the journal club is to stay in touch with the current developments in gravitational theory and relativistic
astrophysics. The club is also attended by the staff at ITP and should serve as a platform for discussion between
graduate students and researchers at the institute.

Credit is awarded when all of the following is satisfied during the semester: 1) the student attends more than half of the meetings, 2) the student casts votes in the Benty-fields system for at least 5 separate meetings, 3) the student leads a discussion of a paper at least once. 1) Create an account at benty-fields.com, 2) Join the „Gravity journal club @ ÚTF“ on benty-fields: https://benty-fields.com/manage_jc?groupid=1197 3) Go to „Papers“ and set up your daily digest of preprints from arxiv.org. We recommend to subscribe to Physics>General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology. (Other possibilities include e.g. Physics>Astrophysics> High Energy Astrophysical Phenomena, or Physics> High Energy Physics - Theory). 4) Your digest will then appear under the appropriate dates under the „Papers“ tab. Ideally, you should skim the papers from every day of the week and cast votes for them if you find them interesting. (The system will then make this easier by learning your preferences and showing you interesting papers first.) 5) When you want to present a paper at the journal club, go to https://benty-fields.com/manage_jc?groupid=1197 and click on „Volunteer“. We meet every week in the seminar room and discuss last weeks papers at a glance (we pick papers to briefly discuss by votes). Then we go into slightly more detailed discussion led by people who volunteered for presentations. The more detailed discussion should focus on the informal description of the paper, its context, and key figures. It should not last more than 10-15 minutes and slides are *not* allowed.
