Anotace - angličtina
The course deals with basic aspects of geothermal energy use in terms of hydrothermal sources and enhanced
geothermal systems. It deals with heat transport from depth to the Earth surface, research of geothermal sources,
technical solution of geothermal systems and economic aspects of geothermal energy use.

Výsledky učení - angličtina

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • understand the basic principles of the Earth's thermal field and heat transfer in the geological environment,
  • be able to explain the origin and characteristics of the geothermal gradient and heat flow,
  • understand the basic principles and applications of deep and shallow geothermal energy,
  • be able to describe the fundamentals of the stress field, rock failure and hydraulic stimulation,
  • be able to interpret basic features and results of seismic monitoring of hydraulic stimulation,
  • understand the principles of heat pumps and underground thermal energy storage systems,
  • be able to assess the basic opportunities and limitations of geothermal energy utilization from technical and environmental perspectives.
