Předměty

Seminář má studentům zpřístupnit dva ústřední texty klasické filosofické tradice, které jsou charakteristické pro její
dvě hlavní postavy, Platóna a Aristotela, i jejich vzájemný vztah. Půjde o podrobnou četbu vybraných pasáží s
uvedením do kontextu daného díla i myšlenkového stanoviska jeho autora. Důraz bude kladen na prokázání
platónsko-sókratovské concordia discors: odlišnosti specifické intence obou děl při zachování
shodných pojmových forem a celkového zaměření k logu.

Základní struktura výkladu
1) Platónova Ústava – dialog, dramaturgie, širší myšlenkový kontext
2) Filosofie, její předmět, ideje
3) Idea dobra a co o ní lze vědět
4) Filosofická výchova
5) Aristotelovy Kategorie: dílo, forma, výklady, recepce
6) Bytí a jazyk, teorie významu
7) Kategoriální členění jsoucího
8) Podstata, případky a jejich systematické vztahy

The seminar is designed to give students access to two central texts of the classical philosophical tradition, characteristic of its two main figures, Plato and Aristotle, and their relationship to each other. It will involve a close reading of selected passages with an introduction to the context of the work and the thought of its author. The emphasis will be on demonstrating
The Platonic-Socratic concordia discors: the difference in the specific intention of the two works, while maintaining identical conceptual forms and an underlying focus on logos.

The basic structure of the course
1) Plato's Republic - dialogue, dramaturgy, wider context of thought
2) Philosophy, its subject, its ideas
3) The idea of the good and what can be known about it
4) Philosophical education
5) Aristotle's Categories: Work, Form, Interpretation, Reception
6) Being and language, theory of meaning
7) The categorical division of being
8) Substance, cases and their systematic relations

Annotation
This seminar is designed to give students access to two central texts of the classical philosophical tradition, characterised by its two main figures, Plato and Aristotle, and their relationship to each other. It will involve a close reading of selected passages with an introduction to the context of the work and the thought of its author. Prerequisites for credit
Active participation, at least 80% attendance, a seminar paper of 7-10 NS handed in by the end of the term.
