Anotace -
The course shall in more details focus on both general problems and selected special areas of international economic law. A student will acquire the following knowledges and skills: to be able to research, analyse and interpret legal norms (in particular international treaties) and decisions of international courts and arbitral tribunals, as well as other information necessary for solution of legal problems; to be able to analyse, formulate and present a plausible legal argument.
The general part includes the concept, sources and subjects of IEL, including the role of States and international organizations. The special part shall deal in particular with WTO law and the protection of international investment. The course shall also address the possibilities of settlement of international disputes, including both traditional and modern forms, from a diplomatic protection to the specialized means of dispute settlement, such as the European Court of Human Rights, WTO Dispute Settlement Board and the investment treaty arbitration. Last but not least, a lecture shall outline the recent changes of investment law and dispute settlement through the new EU trade and investment agreements, including the perspective of the Investment Court System.
