Internal medicine – Geriatrics is taught during one-week clinical rotation at the Department of Geriatrics 1.LF and
VFN in the broader context of general internal medicine. During the rotation students receive theoretical
background and clinical practice and demonstrations in the form of lectures, seminars and bedside training
focused on specific aspects of clinical presentation, diagnostic workout and treatment of common diseases in old
age.

Dear student colleagues, welcome in our Department of Geriatrics and Internal Medicine. Our training will be held on-site. The department is located on Šermířská 1921/4 Street, Prague 6 in Strahov. From Karlovo náměstí, take bus number 176 to the final stop Stadion Strahov. Or from Metro Dejvická station, take bus 143 or 149 to the Koleje Strahov stop. Here is some information for you. Classes start 8.30, please, take sufficient time to get there. Please bring your ID, stethoscope, and CLEAN white coat for Clinical demonstrations (see the course program). The whole group will be divided into groups 1 and 2 which will enable us to assess and discuss geriatric patient and clinical case studies in smaller groups. Attached is the program for the week: 17th March-21st March 2025. Additionally, we have prepared training materials for each day of the rotation which are available in Moodle for you after you sign in for the course (Internal Medicine – Geriatrics) – you should have received the invitation for Moodle. The materials consist of presentations, obligatory and elective reading, clinical skills and tools for assessing geriatric syndromes and comprehensive assessment of mental, somatic and functional status.
