Předmět uvede studenta do filozofického předmětu etika. Všichni známe etické pojmy, jako je hanba, odvaha, krutost, sliby a dobro. Filosof se ale ptá: co přesně tyto pojmy znamenají, co předpokládají, na co je lze aplikovat a na jakém základě? Pokud se dva lidé neshodnou na tom, zda Jones je nebo není odvážný, jak přesně svůj neshod vyřeší? V kurzu se budeme řídit učebnicí Being Good od Simona Blackburna. Text a přednášky budou v angličtině.
Poznámka: přednášky budou pro dvě skupiny studentů ve stejném časovém úseku. Kurz ASZFS0074 je určen pro studenty Filozofické fakulty jako společný základ, kurz AFSV00439 je určen pro Erasmus studenty.

This course will introduce the student to the philosophical subject of ethics. We are all familiar with ethical concepts such as shame, courage, cruelty, promises, and goodness. But the philosopher asks what exactly these terms mean, what they presuppose, what they can be applied to and on what basis. If two people disagree about whether Jones is or is not courageous, how exactly do they resolve their disagreement? For the course we will follow the textbook Being Good, by Simon Blackburn.
Note: the lectures will be for two groups of students in the same timeslot. Course ASZFS0074 is designed for Faculty of Arts students as a Common Base (společný základ), while course AFSV00439 is designed for Erasmus students.

Podmínky zakončení předmětu

The students who are taking this course as part of the Common Foundation (Společný základ) are taking this course on a pass/fail basis for credit (zápočet). The students who are taking this course as part of Erasmus are taking this course for credits and a grade.

Both groups of students will write an EXAM on Monday 12 May at 10.50 am. The exam will last 90 minutes, and will comprise 100% of the final result. The exam will test the student's knowledge of the textbook Being Good by Simon Blackburn. It will take place in the usual lecture theatre, and students must attend in person, and complete the exam using pen and paper. More details of the exam will be available nearer the time.
