Students will become familiar with the supporting theories of personality within the major psychological systems of the 20th and 21st centuries. Lectures will focus on the interpretation of selected personality theories representing the major schools of thought in 20th and 21st century psychology - psychoanalysis, behaviourism, humanistic psychology, the trait approach, and the social cognitive approach. The seminars will discuss in detail the descriptions of each of the existing character types/personality types/personality styles. It is a study of the whole spectrum from the pathological, disturbed form of the personality type to the normal, healthy form. Reading the source literature on individual theories is expected throughout the summer semester. At the end of the semester, the student must submit a list of books on personality psychology that he or she has read before or during the academic year.
