In this course, students will explore how the Nazi German and Communist Regimes controlled citizens' lives though a number of various 'everyday' strategies. The aim of the course is to introduce students to significant milestones and symbolical figures in Czech history, and to demonstrate the ambiguity of their interpretation to different political and historical contexts. It includes visit to the Security Services Archives, National Memorial on the Vítkov Hill, Petschek Palace and The crypt in the church of St. Cyril and Methodius (the last place of resistance of the Operation Antropoid heroes). – Depends on COVID situation. |
