The Advanced English course will be based on the material in the New English File Advanced textbook and will focus on practical use of English skills such as grammatical proficiency, vocabulary development, reading skills and developing listening skills. There will also be class discussions on current topics. Also, I will bring in other materials on grammar and vocabulary and will use authentic articles to develop translation skills if the class is all Czech speakers.

The course will use New English File Advanced textbook during class but also a variety of other relevant materials. A maximum of three absences will be allowed. The students will be required to write several shorter written assignments throughout the course (miniessays on a given topic) before the final exam at the end of the semester. There will also be a homework for each class. The final exam will comprise a written test based on the material covered in the class.

The students will be allowed a maximum of three absences. The students will be required to write several shorter written assignments (miniessays on a given topic) before the final exam at the end of the semester. The final exam will comprise a written test based on the material covered in the class.

The class will be marked on class attendance, results of the credit test at the end of the semester, and submission of weekly assignments and the final credit essay. 

In case of the course taking place online, we will meet on a weekly basis as scheduled via Microsoft Teams (in this case, a PC/laptop, internet connection /and a headset/ is required).
