This subject emphasizes acquiring basic theoretical knowledge about the systematics of combat sports and fundamental practical skills from various combat sports, primarily judo and karate. The subject explains and advocates the importance of incorporating combat contact exercises into physical activity. The content of the subject serves as a foundational movement basis for physical education teachers and coaches within their competencies. The subject matter also extends into everyday civilian life, particularly in the area of falling techniques.

The aim of the subject is to acquire theoretical knowledge about the systematics and biomechanical structure of preparatory combat sports, the impact of combat exercises on the development of individual motor skills, and to gain basic practical skills in combat sports conducted in both standing and ground positions (sitting and lying down).

Upon completing the subject, the student:

  • understands and can explain the systematics of combat sports.
  • can explain the influence of combat exercises on the development of motor skills.
  • comprehends and can explain the principles of falling techniques.
  • can practically demonstrate basic technical elements of selected combat sports.
  • can correctly use and incorporate training aids (focus mitts) when practicing strikes and kicks.
  • can practically and safely demonstrate individual falling techniques and combined falls.
  • is familiar with and can incorporate various combat preparatory exercises into warm-up routines.

Attendance (one absence allowed, two absences result in the addition of a seminar paper).

Ongoing skill assessment within exercises (testing).

1) Falling Techniques
-Falls forward, backward, sideways and ending with a straight fall.

2) Karate Techniques
-Straight punches (cuki).
-Kicks (mae geri, mawashi geri, yoko geri).
-Seamless combinations of kicks and punches into focus mitts or towards the opponent.

3) Judo Techniques
-Throwing techniques (morote seoi nage, o goshi, o soto otoshi, o uchi gari).
-Immobilization/locking techniques (ude hishigi jujigatame, ude garami).
-Holding techniques (kesa gatame).
-Transitions to immobilization technique (scissors to tate shiho gatame, reiter, steering wheel to kesa gatame, Japanese key to mune gatame).

1) Introduction to preparatory exercises, falling techniques - forward falls.

2) Preparatory exercises in pairs, basic wrestling holds, punches, and kicks.

3) Preparatory exercises in pairs, group combat games, falling techniques - backward falls, additional punches and kicks.

4) Combat games, combinations of falling techniques, combinations of punches and kicks.

5) Basic ground wrestling techniques, combinations of punches and kicks, basic defensive techniques, basic judo principles - stances, grips.

6) Basics of judo - throws, ground holds.

7) Group combat games, advanced combinations of punches and kicks, basics of judo - additional throws, holds, and escapes.

8) Falling techniques, basics of judo - additional throws, holds, and locks, combinations.

9) Judo - technique drilling, sparring.

10) Karate - technique combinations, sparring.

11) Alternative techniques without a gi - grappling, basic techniques.

12) Alternative techniques without a gi - grappling, sparring.

13) Review, drilling, preparation for the credit.

14) Review, drilling, preparation for the credit.
