The course is focused on the important role of research work in outdoor activities and sports. Serves summary view of the research and methods used so far to help prepare and process a quality diploma thesis. Attention is also paid to research procedures, formal requisites of scientific text, finding credible information and their processing.

Lectures

1. Brief introduction to methodology, continuation of knowledge from bachelor studies. Emerging need for research in the field of outdoor activities - practical examples.

2. Clarification of two basic research paradigms - quantitative and qualitative research. Examples of outdoor activities.

3. Survey of researches to date that have an impact on outdoor activities, outdoor education and adventure programs on human personality. Types of research methods.

4. Researches dealing with outdoor sports. Examples from the Czech and international environment. Methods used and commentary on achieved results.

5. Scientific databases. Their focus and their necessity for scientific research.

6. Writing of scientific text. Structure of scientific work.

Seminars

1. Structure of professional work. Methodology for various types of work.

2. Abstract and its analysis. Most common mistakes when writing abstract.

3. Formulation in writing scientific papers.

4. Searching for information in scientific databases.

5. Citation ethics and work with citation applications. Establishment of own citation database.

6. Critical assessment of information, evaluation of publications in the field of outdoor activities

7. Writing research from the topic of the thesis. Analysis and critical view of published materials.
