The course gives students information about managing sport facilities, and planning, organizing and securing large sport events. Students are oriented with the capacity of sport infrastructure, possibilities for planning and placement of sport facilities in regions, possibilities for financing the building of sport facilities, and evaluating the effectiveness of use and capacity fulfillment. Students gain information about the steps required to bring large sport events to fruition, as well as the economic and social impact of sport events on the region. Sport has a long and successful tradition in the Czech Republic, but in recent decades it seems that sport does not have the financial and social support that it deserves. This, of course, affects sports infrastructure, but also support for good conditions for teaching physical education in schools. Both are problematic, as the supporting sports activities is not inexpensive. In general, sports facilities are considered to be non-profit. On the other hand (in the case of a narrow segment of sports venues), they are of natural interest to the private sector. So public support for sport and sports infrastructure is a complex and relatively complicated political issue at many levels from municipal, regional to state.
Aim of the course -

A short historical review clearly illustrates that the current sports infrastructure is largely developed from the one previously built, especially in rural areas. In general, we can say that significantly more competitive sports facilities were built than non-competitive sport grounds.

Typical representatives of more expensive sports facilities in the Czech Republic can be illustrated with winter stadiums and swimming pools, specifically water parks. These have

become increasingly popular, especially for families with children, as the public desires a connection between physical activities and entertainment, including refreshments.

Spatial and material conditions for teaching physical education in schools vary considerably throughout the Czech Republic. However, it turns out that where there are insufficient space conditions, for example in large city centers, this handicap can be compensated for with high-quality and abundant material equipment. This is easier to do when there is a qualified physical education teacher in the school’s management.
