COURSE CHARACTERISTICS The course is designed to develop speaking skills essential for a teacher – cultured speach. At the same time, language knowledge specific for the given field will be fixed and deepened. The prerequisite for passing the course is good knowledge of general language minimally at B1.2SERRJ level.

Attainment and consolidation of productive language activities and strategies in particular aimed at spoken language at the level B1.2 and development of lexical competencies at B2.1.

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • communicate fluently in English in the professional field of sport
  • present specific topics in the field of sport in English
  • lead physical education and sport activities and courses in English
  • analyse and interpret a professional text in English in the field of physical education and sport

Requirements to the exam -

Regular class attendance . Two absences per semester are tolerated. In case of 3rd and 4th absence students are required to submit work assigned by the teacher. 5 and more absences do not meet the basic reguirements for being granted credit.

These rules do not apply to students with individual study plans.

During the semester students are required to write and present a speech ( appr. 10 min.) based on authentic specialised literature in English/German.

A warm up without apparatuses - written preparation, 6 exercises - presentation in class

Didactic demonstration exercise in gym / sportsground / swimming pool as the main part of the teaching unit, appr. 20 minut. Preperation in a written form is required.

2. Professional languages and their specific features, language of sport, types of texts.

3. Oral presentations ( structure, verbal and non-verbal language means, interpretation

4. PE and sport at schools, , integration sport, inclusion.

5. Athletics - work with texts ( reading comprehension, text interpretation, applying the acguired knowledge to the conditions of physical education at schools.

6. Gymnastics - working with texts. Presentations ( a speech, a warm up)

7. Movement games - work with texts. Presentations ( a speech, a warm up)
