The course is an opportunity to systematically introduce scientific knowledge concerning the psychological mechanisms of masculinity and femininity formation against the background of biological laws and cultural characteristics. The aim of the course is for future teachers to understand the socio-cultural construction of gender identity and to be able to reflect on the risks of gender stereotypes, especially for school education in co-educational classrooms. Equality, which is a fundamental principle of democratic schooling, must also include equality in access to and treatment of girls and boys. The course will discuss different practices in promoting gender equality in education. The course consists of six sessions in which learners read recommended readings (book chapters, empirical articles, analytical reports from national or international surveys, school policy documents, etc.) and work on individual or group assignments of a practical nature. The meetings are used for theoretical framing of the topic under discussion, presentation of application tasks and discussion.

Předmět je strukturován podle tematických bloků (viz sylabus). Ke každému bloku je k dispozici základní povinná a doporučená literatura a aplikační úkoly. Studující se připravují na jednotlivá setkání prostřednictvím instrukcí a materiálů v Moodlu. V jeho prostředí rovněž odevzdávají písemné úkoly a poskytují zpětné vazby ostatním.
