The course follows upon the mandatory course Basics of Psychotherapy. It offers an extended, in-depth presentation of the basic psychotherapeutic modalities that are practiced in the Czech Republic. They will gain insight into the theory of each modality, as well as into differences and commonalities between different approaches. Students are going to meet face-to-face with experts in each area introduced. Speakers are going to use examples from their practice and if possible, they will let students try techniques that are typically used in a particular approach. The information gained in the course should help students in deciding whether or not they are going to study further towards becoming psychotherapist after graduating university, and also in choosing their preferred modality. Předmět navazuje na povinný kurz Základy psychoterapie a rozšiřuje jej o detailnější poznání teorie a praxe jednotlivých psychoterapeutických směrů etablovaných v České republice. Studenti by se po absolvování kurzu měli v psychoterapeutických směrech lépe orientovat, znát základní teoretická východiska a jejich vzájemné provázanosti a odlišnosti. Praktické ukázky a techniky by jim měly teorii více přiblížit a zároveň se budou moci seznámit se zástupci jednotlivých směrů, kteří své přístupy v praxi používají. Cílem kurzu je, aby se studenti mohli po absolvování VŠ studia kvalifikovaněji rozhodovat, zda budou pro svoji praxi volit psychoterapii a případně, který směr je oslovuje.

Kurz je zakončen vypracováním práce vycházející z literatury (open-textbook zkouška). Sledována bude docházka a aktivní účast při seminářích.
