Evolution: the earliest period 1328-1610; “La langue classique” 1610-1789 – phonetic evolution slows down; 1789-1914 “La langue moderne”. The influence of theatres, spoken and sung French, influence of media, sociophonetic and regional influences, phonostylistics and its importance in evaluating the current situation. Principal handbooks, dictionaries. Does orthoepy exist? Illustrations of the evolution of pronunciation styles, their interpretation (analysis of audio and multimedia illustrative recordings).
