The course addresses issues faced by cultural heritage experts since the late 20th century around the world. Students will explore and discuss the causes and consequences of problems associated with the ownership, management, presentation and interpretation of cultural heritage. They will realise that the selection and protection of cultural heritage often represents different group interests (political, economic, social, cultural) which may find themselves in conflict with each other. We will also focus on exposing controversial and difficult topics of history.
