The roots of medieval culture in late ancient culture and other influences and tendencies, especially the Arab world. Early Middle Ages - pre-Romanesque culture and art: religious orders, Carolingian and Ottonian culture. Romance culture and art in Europe and in the Czech lands. Gothic culture and art, its origin and important artistic personalities and monuments in Europe and in the Czech lands: architecture - European cathedrals, sculpture, painting and arts and crafts. Art of the late Middle Ages - On the border of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance - the beginnings of the Italian and Transalpine Renaissance: architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, graphics and arts and crafts. In the case of distance learning, lectures and seminars take place online on the platform Zoom and testing by correspondence e-mail test.

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the roots of medieval culture in late ancient culture, with the culture of the early Middle Ages, with the Romanesque, Gothic culture and art in Europe and the Czech lands, with the art of the late Middle Ages and the beginnings of the Italian and Transalpine Renaissance. In the case of distance learning, implement lectures and seminars online on the Zoom platform.
