The birth of the Renaissance in Florentine painting, sculpture and architecture, the parallel emergence of Dutch realism (Nordic Renaissance) and the anchoring of modern culture in humanism. The High Renaissance of Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael. The emergence and European spread of mannerism. The time of Rudolf II. Transformation of thinking in literature, art and culture of the Baroque and the emergence of science. European expressions of Baroque, Caravaggio, Rubens, Bernini, Borromini, Rembrandt, Škréta, Santini, Dientzenhofer, Brandl, Braun, Brokoff. The aim is to understand and internalize the changes of art in the past and their connection with contemporary art. 1) The modern age and the emergence of new art and life culture. 2) The High Renaissance and its reflection in contemporary art. 3) Mannerism and its reflections in contemporary art. 4) Art and culture of the 17th century in Europe. 5) Art and culture of the 17th century in the Czech lands. 6) Art and culture of the 18th century in Europe. 7) Art and culture of the 18th century in the Czech lands. 8) Reflections of Baroque in contemporary art.

Seznámení s principy proměny výtvarné kultury a umění v raném novověku. Zrod renesance ve florentském malířství, sochařství a architektuře, paralelní vznik nizozemského realismu (severské renesance) a zakotvení novověké kultury v humanismu. Vrcholná renesance Leonarda, Michelangela a Raffaela. Vznik a evropské rozšíření manýrismu. Doba Rudolfa II. Proměna myšlení v literatuře, umění a kultuře baroka a vznik vědy. Evropské projevy baroka, Caravaggio, Rubens, Bernini, Borromini, Rembrandt, Škréta, Santini, Dientzenhofer, Brandl, Braun, Brokoff. Cílem je pochopení a zvnitřnění proměn umění v minulosti a jejich souvislostí se současným uměním.
