During the course, students are introduced to the basics of the work of art in the exhibition space, its position and relationship to the viewer and the general cultural, social and art historical context. They are introduced to the development of the position of an artefact in a non-gallery and gallery environment, as well as the consequences of changing its position. Emphasis is also placed on understanding the issue of the formal solution of the work about the viewer and the space and its historical changes. The issue is presented through the analysis of theoretical texts and practical exercises based on specific situations. The course is focused on preparing students to reflect on the position of a work of art in the exhibition space from a passive spectator and then active position. Above all, the development of skills in conscious analysis of the exhibition situation and the possibility of its subsequent practical application. In these respects, this course is a basic introduction to the issues associated with curation and work in the gallery space in general. The course aims to lead students to the reflection of a work of art in the exhibition space. Introductory meetings; individual thematic areas mentioned by the lecture and subsequent discussion on selected examples and texts; seminars connected with the visit of gallery expositions and exhibitions (exhibitions of contemporary art and selected retrospective exhibitions; collective work on the prepared exhibition project.
