The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with the changes that took place in both philosophy and ethics with the advent of the post-war era and with the way these changes were reflected by postmodern ethics and philosophy. Individual lectures deal with the analysis of thought of the most important postmodern thinkers, such as Lyotard, Derrida, Foucault, Spaemann or Baudlirillard. One of the key problems discussed is the relationship of postmodernism to Nietzsche and to structuralism. The problem of the relationship between modernism and postmodernism, their conflicts and influences, is also dealt with. An essential part of the course is the reading and interpretation of key works by postmodern authors.

Základním úkolem kurzu je seznámit posluchače se změnami, které ve filosofii nastaly s nástupem poválečné doby a s jejich reflexí v postmoderní filosofii. Jednotlivé přednášky se zabývají rozborem myšlenek nejvýznamnějších postmoderních myslitelů Lyotarda, Derridy, Foucaulta, Baudrillarda apod. K základním rozebíraným problémům patří vztah posmoderny ke kritické teorii, marxismu a strukturalismu. Část výkladu zabírá i problém vztahu modernity a postmodernity, jejich názorových střetů a vlivů. Neodmyslitelnou součástí kurzu je četba a interpretace stěžejních děl postmoderních autorů.
