The aim of the course is to introduce students to a professional psychological discourse, which will be applied to pedagogical reality. The course introduces psychology as an independent scientific discipline, shows its methodology and relationship to other disciplines. Emphasis is placed on distinguishing between laic and scientific views on human experience and behavior. The course will focus on basic concepts and theories of general psychology and personality psychology, which are key to the subsequent understanding of the specifics of preschool and school children and the teaching profession. Students have an e-learning course in which they are going to fill tasks related to the main topics.

The aim of the course is a basic acquaintance of the latest knowledge about the psychological laws of learning and teaching. The course should help in understanding:

1. the process of learning,

2. the student in the context of the learning situation

3. student as a future teacher who reflects on his/her pedagogical activity



After completing the course the student is able to:

1. apply theoretical psychological principles to the teaching of chemistry

2. create conditions for effective learning and teaching

3. analyze the causes of study failure
