The Morphology course introduces the students to the basic morphological categories of present-day English against the background of the grammatical system of Czech. It focuses on formal and functional delimitation and description of word classes (especially nouns and verbs). Topics: 1. Introduction, basic terminology: word classes 2. The noun: countability and number 3. The noun: gender and case 4. The noun: definiteness and determiners 5. The verb: verb forms, auxiliary and modal verbs 6. The verb: person, number, tense 7. The verb: mood and voice 8. The verb: non-finite verb forms 9. Adjectives and adverbs 10. Pronouns, quantifiers and numerals 11. Prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections
