History of German speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Liechtenstein) from the beginning until 1945, with a specific focus on the confrontation of German and Czech history and with regard to the connection of historical events and the history of culture.

Cílem kurzu je seznámit studenty s dějinami německy mluvících zemí a poskytnout jim širší vhled do dějinných souvislostí jednotlivých historických etap. Obsahem kurzu jsou především dějiny Německa do roku 1945, ale také dějiny Rakouska a Švýcarska, pokud souvisí s obecnými dějinami německy mluvících oblastí (tzn. do roku 1866, resp. 1648). Zvláštní pozornost je věnována česko-německým vztahům od doby středověku.

Ziel der Vorlesung ist es,einen Überblick über die grundlegenden Fakten, Daten und Ereignisse der Geschichte der deutschsprachigen Länder zu gewinnen. Wir beginnen im 21. Jahrhundert und gehen von da aus zurück ins Mittelalter, das wir dann eingehender besprechen: Gründung und Entwicklung des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, Königtum und Kirche, dynastische Abfolgen, Kreuzzüge, Verfassungsentwicklung, Reichsgeschichte im späten Mittelalter bis zur Reformationszeit. Die Geschichte Österreichs, der Schweiz und der böhmischen Länder wird einbezogen, soweit sie mit dem Besprochenen in Zusammenhang steht.
