Vymezení funkce a místa literární teorie v literární vědě. Začátky teoretického myšlení o umění, potažmo literatuře. Základní pojmy, pojmové kategorie, jejich problematičnost (realita, reprezentace, mimesis, diegesis, kritika, analýza, interpretace). Přehled specializovaných podoblastí (poetika, rétorika, narratologie...) Rozpracování klasifikace druhů na základě vhledu do různých typologií a jejich kritérií, s důrazem na nejvýznamnější žánr evropské kultury, román. Historický itinerář: nástin nejdůležitějších koncepcí literárního díla/textu, interpretačních modelů a škol 19. a 20. století (kritika pozitivistická, impresionistická, fenomenologicko-existenciální, strukturalistická,psychokritika-textanalýza atd.)
