The course introduces sociology as a science dealing with social problems and working on suggestions of possible solutions. The course informs about the characteristics of applied research and its methods, the sociological analysis of the development in the Czech Republic and its influence on the rise of social gaps, national and ethnical conflicts, violence, crime, alcohol and drug abuse etc.
