This course is an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of psycholinguistics, oriented mainly towards the needs of future teachers. It focuses on first and second language acquisition, communication of the hearing-impaired, biological prerequisites of speech, brain structure and functions, and language disorders. The topics of animal communication, the existence of innate language ideas, and the relation between language, thought, and culture are also discussed.
