This is an introductory composition course. Students read, study, and then practise many different possible methods of paragraph/essay (or article) development, e.g., comparison and contrast, cause and effect, process, argumentative (persuasive), etc. In-class work and assignments include essays/articles based on these methods, as well as writing exercises focused on sentence structure, connecting ideas, and stronger word choice.

Kurs je úvodem do studia kompozice. Studenti se učí analyzovat a sami psát odstavce a eseje. Seznamují se s různými způsoby jejich stavby, zaměřují se na vyjádření srovnání a kontrastu, příčiny a následku, procesu, apelu, apod. Práce zahrnuje eseje a články psané uvedenými metodami a vypracovávání různých cvičení zaměřených na větnou strukturu, spojování myšlenek a výběr slov.
